If Corona has taught everyone anything, its that life is not a guarantee. That is, life as you imagined and expected it to be.

Did you know that 1 in 19 children have some sort of special needs? Did you know that anyone with a brain can have epilepsy? When someone is having a baby there’s no certificate that comes with the baby saying that it will be perfectly healthy it’s whole life, grow up, have children & grandchildren, and fade off into the sunset like all fairy tales.

Anyone can have a child with special needs at any time. Or more than one. These children are not born with a silver spoon in their mouth, their mothers don’t automatically grow an extra set of arms when they’re born. Parents of children with special needs, of ALL kinds, NEED HELP. I needed help raising our kids. Sometimes I got it, sometimes I didn’t. Its the times that I didn’t that were harder than anyone can possibly imagine. Since that silver spoon & extra set of arms didn’t show up, families can’t necessarily afford to hire the help they need. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of programs set up to help these parents.

Respite is what helps them, alleviates some of their pain and suffering and just pure EHXHAUSTION. The only people who know what it feels like are those who have been there. In caring for my beautiful children for 26 years, I know what its like to need help and not get it.

Ydei Chesed of Rockland county has heard our cries and wants to help. They have created the Chavie & Isaac Stein Memorial Respite Foundation, to honor the memory of my incredible children. But the only way they can create a wonderful respite program and facility is with the financial help of our community.
